If you've concluded that your loved one may have a problem with the abuse of drugs or alcohol, the next step is to have an honest, empathetic, and open discussion with them.
There are some precautions advised - prior to the honest conversation, validate with a trusted friend or another family member, just to be sure that your thinking and your concerns are valid.
Please don't avoid addressing your loved one about their problem - they aren't going to be able to fix themselves. Your love for them might very well be teh motivation that causes them to address their problem sooner, so the door can be opened for them to begin their healing and recovery journey.
