God Took Me to Las Vegas
My mission with the God Took Me to Las Vegas podcast is to save lives and allow the person to Reveal the Lifestyle Champion within them. There are many different types of recovery programs, they all are aimed at helping those battling substance use disorders to transition from being harmed to being clean and sober. Anyone who’s battling a compulsive or destructive behavior wants to be healthy and they desire to live a happy and productive life. Sadly, only 1 in 10 Americans with a substance use disorder receives treatment. Why?Because it’s not safe to come forward and admit your challenges. The stigma is fueling an American public health crisis and we need to “Crush the Stigma!”Substance use disorders are associated with discrimination and social disapproval – more than any medical condition. These same people are often isolated, outcast, and even imprisoned. Stigma isolates people, it discourages them from seeking help, and even leads some medical providers to resist delivering evidence-based treatment services.

Episode 176 -Interview with Cara Irene, a unique travel professional
Episode #176– Interview with Cara Irene,
Cara Irene is the founder and CEO of “State of Unity”, a group travel company that helps people travel with purpose and live with adventure. Her mission is to help people step out of their comfort zone and try something new, connect with a new culture, and see the world.
Cara grew up in rural Wisconsin and after graduating from the University of Wisconsin she relocated to the warmer climate in Florida. For a decade, she worked as a Senior Event Coordinator, planning events and retreats for Fortune 500 companies and C-Suite groups. She is great at logistics, negotiations, and creating unique experiences.
Her passion is travel and that has allowed her to tour around the world, fueling her passion for bringing people together, and helping people “Travel with Purpose and Live with Adventure.”
In high school, Cara started smoking cigarettes, then weed, trying to assimilate with a group of people. She never felt that she was fitting in anywhere, and doing drugs seemed like the best route to identify with others.
In her senior year of high school, a neighbor shared cocaine and that’s what led her to try pretty much anything someone would offer. That destructive path took her to the lowest point in her life when her father came to bail her out of jail, as she was being charged with drug trafficking.
In her words, “By the grace of God, I was placed into a drug rehab program that dropped the felony charges if I completed the program.” And she did successfully complete the 12-month recovery program.
Knowing she didn’t want the drugs anymore, she applied for college, started attending church, made new friends, and began working out. Her life was then transformed into the person she wanted to be!
Today, Cara’s mission is to help people step out of their comfort zone and try something new while connecting with a new culture, and seeing the world.
